Review: When Kavya Pratap Singh, a chirpy, yet feisty girl from Ambala, decides to make a trip to Delhi for her marriage shopping, she meets a young, carefree Delhi lad, Humpty Sharma. Humpty’s father is the owner of a campus bookstore, where Humpty and his two best friends, Shonty and Poplu, have grown up together and which remains their hangout spot even now. Kavya is unattainable for Humpty initially, which makes her even more endearing to him. But being a Delhi boy, he is not the one to give up so easily. With some help from his two best friends, he finds out all about her and through an interesting turn of events (including a ploy to save Kavya’s friend Gurpreet’s marriage), they start growing closer to each other. The more time they spend with each other, their love hate banter grows, but their chemistry is apparent. They are both different, yet very similar as people. They are young, feisty and carefree, and its the spurge of life which attracts them to each other. As per plan, once Kavya’s trip ends, she heads back to Ambala, knowing very well that her father, the very strict, yet loving Mr. Singh, would never accept her love for Humpty. But even though they both weren’t looking for love, love happened. So Humpty, accompanied by his two friends, decides to go get Kavya. That’s the beginning of a journey for him that he wouldn’t have imagined undertaking even in the wildest of his dreams. Humpty, against all odds, decides to convince Kavya’s family to agree to his alliance with her. How he does this and if he succeeds in his mission forms the rest of the story.

Review: Scott Derrickson has directed two similarly minded hits already: The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Sinister, and the studio behind this thriller has effectively message the based-on-true-events nature of the story - something that tends to sway audiences. Look for Eric Bana to get the Ethan Hawke career bump if Deliver does just that, and we think there's something to be seen in him pairing up with Edgar Ramirez, even if the latter cannot help being ridiculously sexy when playing a priest.

BUZZ: An elderly woman narrates and tells the story of Maleficent, a young and very powerful fairy living in the Moors, a magical realm bordering a human kingdom. As a young girl, she meets and falls in love with a human peasant boy named Stefan, whose love for Maleficent is overshadowed by his ambition to become king. As they grow older, Stefan stops seeing Maleficent. After Maleficent defeats the current king in battle when he attempts to invade the Moors, he offers to name whoever kills her his successor. Stefan overhears this and visits Maleficent at night, drugs her and attempts to kill her but cannot bring himself to do so. Instead he burns her wings off with iron, a lethal substance to fairies, and presents them to the king as proof of her death. After discovering Stefan's betrayal Maleficent rescues a raven named Diaval to serve as her informant and he reports to her that Stefan has been crowned king. The realization Stefan betrayed her to gain the throne devastates Maleficent and in retaliation she declares herself queen of the Moors, forming a dark oppressive kingdom with Diaval as her one companion and confidant.

Some time later, Diaval informs Maleficent that Stefan, now king, is hosting a christening for his newborn daughter, Aurora. Bent on revenge against Stefan, Maleficent arrives uninvited and curses the baby with a sleeping curse to take effect on her 16th birthday after pricking her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. After Stefan is forced by Maleficent to beg for his daughter, however, Maleficent offers an caveat, saying the curse can be broken by true love's kiss. Paranoid of Maleficent and her vengeance against him, Stefan has all the spinning wheels locked away and sends Aurora to live with three pixies until the day after her 16th birthday. He sends out his armies to find and kill Maleficent, but she surrounds her kingdom with an impenetrable wall of thorns.

Despite her initial dislike for Aurora, Maleficent begins to care for the girl when the naive and neglectful pixies fail to do so. After a brief meeting with the young Aurora, Maleficent watches over Aurora from afar. When Aurora is 15, she sees Maleficent for the first time since then and calls the woman her "fairy godmother", as she recalled being watched over by her all her life. Maleficent allows Aurora to spend more time in Moors, realizing she has grown fond of the princess. She attempts to revoke the curse but cannot as she herself had declared nothing could stop it. Aurora later meets a prince named Phillip and falls in love with him. Diaval thinks it must be true love and the key to lifting the curse, but Maleficent is unsure. On the day before Aurora's 16th birthday, Maleficent, hoping the avoid the curse, allows the girl to live in the Moors, far away from any spindles. But the pixies inadvertently tell Aurora of her parentage and of Maleficent's true identity as the one who cursed her, and Aurora furiously disowns Maleficent and she runs away to her father.

After a quick and dismissive reunion, on his part, Stefan locks Aurora away for safekeeping. She begins to fall under the curse's trance as she escapes her room while being drawn to the dungeon. There, the curse assembles a spinning wheel, Aurora pricks her finger, initiating the curse. Intent on saving Aurora, Maleficent abducts Phillip and infiltrates Stefan's castle to have him kiss Aurora and break the curse. However, Phillip's kiss fails. Maleficent apologizes to the princess while swearing no harm will come to her, and then kissing Aurora's forehead, causing Aurora to awaken. Maleficent's curse has been broken as her motherly concern for Aurora constitutes "true love", and Aurora forgives her. They attempt to flee the castle but Maleficent is trapped in an iron net and attacked by Stefan and his guards, all wearing iron armor and wielding iron weapons. Maleficent transforms Diaval into a dragon and he lifts the net off her but soon is driven back by the soldiers. Stefan beats Maleficent and taunts her about the loss of her wings but before he can kill her her wings are restored to her, freed by Aurora. With her wings Maleficent frees Diaval and overpowers Stefan with their fight eventually ending with the king falling to his death. Later, Aurora is later named queen of both the humans and fairies by Maleficent, unifying the two kingdoms, with Phillip at her side. The narrator then reveals her identity as Aurora herself.

The Fault in Our Stars (2014)

Plot: The story takes place in Indianapolis, United States and is told from the viewpoint of sixteen-year-old Hazel Grace Lancaster, an intelligent and sarcastic young teen coping with terminal thyroid cancer that has metastasized to her lungs. Believing that Hazel is depressed, Hazel's mother urges Hazel to attend a cancer patients' support group at a local church to make friends, a request Hazel reluctantly accepts.

At the support group, Hazel garners the attention of a teenage boy named Augustus Waters, whose unyielding stare frightens yet intrigues her. Amidst group discussion, Augustus confesses that his greatest fear is "oblivion", an answer which Hazel combats as foolish. The two bond immediately after the meeting, and Augustus invites Hazel to his house.

In Augustus' basement, the two confide their experiences with cancer. Augustus explains his osteosarcoma, which is luckily in remission but has led to the amputation of his leg. Before departing, the two agree to read each other's favorite novels. Hazel recommends to Augustus An Imperial Affliction, which happens to be Hazel's favorite book of all time, a novel that follows a cancer-stricken girl named Anna and parallels Hazel's own philosophies, stresses, and experiences regarding illness.

Augustus finishes reading An Imperial Affliction but is frustrated upon learning that the novel ends mid-sentence. Hazel verifies the cliffhanger ending and explains to Augustus that the novel's mysterious author, Peter Van Houten, had retreated to Amsterdam after the novel's publishing and has not been heard from since nor explained the novel's cryptic halt.

Weeks later, Augustus reveals to Hazel that he has tracked down Van Houten's assistant, Lidewij, and through her has managed to start email correspondence with Van Houten. Hazel writes to Van Houten with questions regarding the novel's ending. Van Houten eventually replies but explains he can only answer Hazel in person and invites Hazel to visit him in Amsterdam where he promises to address her directly.

Hazel proposes the trip to her mother but is rejected due to financial and medical constraints. Later, Augustus surprises Hazel with tickets to Amsterdam, attained through a charitable make-a-wish foundation. The two bond closer amidst Hazel's concern over her health.

Days before the trip, Hazel suffers an episode of pleural effusion and is sent to the ICU, prompting her doctors to question the safety of Hazel travelling overseas. The medical team argues against the trip but eventually complies with Hazel's parents to accommodate her travel.

Hazel and Augustus finally meet Van Houten but are shocked to find that, instead of a prolific genius, Van Houten is a mean-spirited drunk. Lidewij confesses to having arranged the meeting on his behalf, angering Van Houten, who proceeds to insult Hazel's cancer and refuses to answer any of her questions. The two leave Van Houten's in anger and disappointment.

Accompanied by Lidewij, Hazel and Augustus visit the Anne Frank House. Hazel struggles to climb the house's vaulting staircases but finally succeeds in doing so. At the end of the tour, Augustus and Hazel share a romantic kiss. They then head back to the hotel and make love for the first time.

The following day, Augustus confesses that a recent PET scan revealed his cancer to have relapsed. Resolute, the two affirm their love and support for each other.

Upon returning to Indianapolis, Augustus' health worsens significantly. In his final days Augustus arranges a pre-funeral for himself requesting that Isaac—Augustus' best friend—and Hazel speak eulogies for him to witness. Hazel quotes Van Houten about "larger and smaller infinities" and confides that she would not trade their short time together for anything in the world. Augustus dies eight days later.

At the funeral, Hazel is astonished to find Van Houten in attendance. Van Houten explains that he and Augustus maintained correspondence since Amsterdam and that Augustus had demanded Van Houten make up for ruining their trip by attending his funeral. Van Houten confides in Hazel that his novel is based entirely on his own daughter, Anna, who died from cancer herself at a young age. In forgiveness, Van Houten attempts to reveal the fate of Anna's mother and gives her a piece of paper, but Hazel, still upset with his behavior, crumples up the paper and asks him to leave.

Later that day, in a conversation with Isaac, Hazel learns that Augustus had asked Van Houten for assistance in writing a eulogy for her. Realizing what Van Houten had given her, Hazel retrieves the crumpled paper. The movie concludes with Hazel reading Augustus' words to Van Houten, in which Augustus confides his acceptance of death and his love for Hazel, a sentiment she returns.
